The British Pakistan Foundation (BPF) proudly marked its 15th anniversary with a landmark event “Forging Forwards”, held at the prestigious 116 Pall Mall on the 19th of June 2025.

The evening brought together over 150 members, partners, and leaders from across the British Pakistani community to celebrate BPF’s legacy, unveil key research findings, and chart the path ahead.

Key guests included former First Minister of Scotland Humza Yousaf, the Pakistan High Commissioner HE Dr Mohammed Faisal, BPF Chair Faria Ali, and trustees Asif Rangoonwala, Shahid Latif, Mariam Qaiser, and Ahson Toru.

Additional key guests included Javed Khan, Managing Director at Equi; Richard Lindsay, Deputy Director at the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO); Rahima Aziz of the Aziz Foundation; Shoaib Memon, COO of Europe Arab Bank; and Lord Tariq Ahmad, Baron of Wimbledon.

They were joined by prominent members of the British Pakistani community including broadcasters Yasser Ranjha (Capital FM), Nayha Ahmad (BBC), diversity advocate Arooj Aftab, comedian Salman Malik, DJ Nabihah Iqbal, chef Aida Khan, and social media influencer Jowairiyya Khan.

The event served as a powerful reminder of BPF’s mission: to empower, connect, and uplift the British Pakistani community across the UK. Since its inception in 2010, the Foundation has played a pivotal role in addressing community challenges, amplifying voices, and fostering leadership.

A highlight of the evening was the keynote address delivered by Humza Yousaf, former First Minister of Scotland. In a deeply personal and inspiring speech, Mr. Yousaf reflected on his own journey and stressed the importance of unity, representation, and shaping a collective future grounded in purpose. His remarks resonated strongly with the audience and reinforced the significance of inclusive leadership.

He said: “I am delighted to support the work of the British Pakistan Foundation. Their work would be important at any given time, but is of the utmost importance at this critical juncture. I commend the BPF for their efforts to develop the next generation of leaders from the British Pakistani community, who will contribute to all sectors of society.

The story of British Pakistanis is one of contributions over the decades. With the support and efforts of the BPF, we will undoubtedly see that story of contribution continue to the betterment of the country as a whole. I wish them every success in their endeavours, and I am proud to support their work.”

The event also discussed the findings from BPF’s latest community research, exploring the current experiences, aspirations, and priorities of British Pakistanis across the UK. The insights are set to shape BPF’s strategy for its next chapter, focused on greater representation, access to opportunity, and deeper community engagement.

Speaking on the occasion, BPF trustee Asif Rangoonwala said: “This evening was not just a celebration of our 15 year journey, it was a reaffirmation of our commitment to the future. The voices we heard tonight, the research we presented, and the unity we witnessed all point to one thing: our community is ready to forge forwards, together.”

Echoing this sentiment, Faria Ali, Chair of the British Pakistan Foundation, said: “This milestone is a proud moment for all of us at the British Pakistan Foundation. Our ‘Forging Forwards’ event reflects our commitment to creating even more pathways for opportunity and representation, ensuring that our community continues to grow, thrive, and contribute to the future of Britain.”

Following the formal proceedings, guests participated in a networking reception, where community members, business leaders, and partners engaged in meaningful conversations over light refreshments amid the refined setting of 116 Pall Mall.
