Dr Jiv Gosai (pictured above), a Bradford-based consultant has been rewarded a prestigious national awards that has recognised his exceptional contributions through his resident doctor training.
Dr Jiv Gosai, consultant cardiologist at Bradford Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, received the “Best UK Trainer of the Year Award” for electrophysiology (EP) and devices training at this year’s British Cardiovascular Society Annual Conference. The award recognises his exceptional commitment to educating the next generation of cardiologists.
Dr Gosai, training across West Yorkshire as a Training Programme Director, said “This award is a testament to the dedication of our entire Cardiology and Cath Lab team at Bradford Royal Infirmary. I look forward to continuing our work to strengthen training and education in the region.”
Dr Gosai has extensive experience in medical education, curriculum design, and simulation-based learning, as evidenced by his MD on simulation-based learning in medical training and his master’s degree in education. He is also a fellow of the Higher Education Academy.
Dr Michael Drozd, Cardiology Registrar at BRI, praised Dr Gosai’s “consistently goes above and beyond, noting his efforts to create high-quality, supportive learning environments for trainees.
Dr Gosai also serves on the national Cardiology Specialty Advisory Committee and holds a master’s in education, an MD in simulation-based learning, and is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. His interests span curriculum design, medical education research, and human factors.
In addition to Dr Gosai’s clinical role, he also has interests in curriculum design, qualitative and quantitative research in medical education and human factors.
Dr John Bolton, the Trust’s Chief Medical Officer, added: “Dr Gosai exemplifies the clinical leadership that drives both patient care and professional excellence. We’re proud to see him recognised on the national stage.”
