KORT “Education for All” project hands over two further schools in AJK

Two new schools have been completed and donated to the underprivileged communities in Azad Jammu Kashmir (AJK) by the Kashmir Orphan Relief Trust (KORT).

For many years, children in AJK were educated in challenging conditions, often in run-down spaces made of corrugated sheets, or insufficient open areas with makeshift roofing. However, a new era of education has dawned with the completion of these new school buildings.

Over the past two years, KORT has constructed and delivered around 16 educational facilities, including a boys\’ high school in Buglay, Pachiot District, and a girls\’ high school in Khai Gala, which was completed last month.

Ch Mohammed Akhtar, Chairman for KORT, said: “Education breaks the cycle of poverty and desperation, and it allows the children to look forward to a bright future with good careers.

“It is a very serious and difficult issue as a country cannot move forward until and unless most of its citizens are above the poverty line.

“KORT thanks all of its generous donors who have made it possible for us to deliver 16 educational sites across AJK, which will undoubtedly see thousands of children benefit from the educational facilities in coming years.”
