A man was arrested this week in connection with an incident which appeared to show women being racially abused in Romford town centre.
On the evening of the April 21st police arrested the 55 year old man, 55, on suspicion of racially aggravated public order offences.
Police said the arrest was in connection with an incident in South Street which occurred at around 4.05pm the day before.
In a video shared to social media, a man appears to use threatening and racist language towards a group of women walking along the high street.
A Metropolitan Police spokesperson previously said the incident was being urgently investigated and treated as a hate crime. They added that officers would be speaking to the women.
