Following a Thames Valley Police investigation, a man has been jailed for an incident of grievous bodily harm in Slough.

Omar Chaudhry, aged 27, of no fixed abode, was sentenced to 12 years in prison after pleading guilty to one count of section 18 assault occasioning GBH with intent and one count of possession of a bladed article at the Reading Crown Court.

Chaudhry will be on licence for three years following his sentence in prison, and has been sentenced to two years in prison for the count of possession of a bladed article, which will run concurrently.

At around 12.50 am on 20 December 2021, Chaudhry stabbed the victim, a man in his forties, whilst he was walking his dog in Baylis Park.

The victim sustained life threatening injuries.

Chaudhry was arrested the same day and charged on 22 December.

Investigating officer Detective Constable Sian Raine, of Slough CID, after the sentencing said, “The sentence that has been given today reflects the severe impact Chaudhry’s actions had on the victim and his family.

“This was a particularly violent attack that involved the use of a knife on a man Chaudhry did not know.

“Thames Valley Police do not tolerate knife crime and this is an example of our robust response towards individuals who chose to carry and use knives.”
