A new community cookbook, \’A Taste of Home: Bangladeshi Recipes from Welsh Kitchens,\’ is set to launch.
The book created by the Bengal Dragons Foundation with Welsh Bangladeshi women, features family recipes, personal stories, and a \’deep connection to heritage and identity.\’
The launch event, scheduled at the Bangladeshi-owned restaurant Juboraj of Rhiwbina, will highlight the contributions of Welsh Bangladeshi women who have shared their favourite home-cooked recipes.
The evening will include a display of traditional Bangladeshi dishes from the book, guest speakers, cultural performances, and discussions about the role of food on preserving heritage.
Babru Miah of the Bengal Dragons Foundation said: \”This cookbook is more than just recipes; it is a celebration of identity, culture, and the power of food to bring communities together.
It reflects the contributions of Bangladeshi women to Wales and highlights the importance of sharing our heritage through food.\”
The book is published by Jannat Ahmed (pictured above), a Welsh Bangladeshi publisher committed to \’amplifying diverse voices in literature\’.
The illustrations throughout the cookbook are by Jaffrin Khan, a Welsh Bangladeshi multidisciplinary artist and writer.
The event will also explore how food bridges cultures, bringing together people of all backgrounds to appreciate Welsh Bangladeshi cuisine.
The cookbook is available for purchase at bengaldragonsfoundation.org. Proceeds from the book will be reinvested into community led projects supporting cultural and social initiatives.
